Wellcome Photography Prize 2027

The Wellcome Photography Prize is an international photography competition run by the Wellcome Trust, exploring health, science and the human experience – from mental health and infectious disease to climate, caregiving and scientific discovery. It is open to photographers of any level and nationality worldwide (professionals, self-taught photographers, scientists and people with lived experience; phone photography is allowed), with entries accepted in three categories: a striking single image, a storytelling series of 3-5 images, and the marvels of scientific and medical imaging. Photographs must have been taken after 31 December 2021, and AI-generated images are not accepted. Each category winner receives GBP 10,000 (about EUR 12,000) and 22 further finalists receive GBP 1,000 each, with the 25 best works shown in a final exhibition. Location: online submission (open internationally); exhibition in the UK. There is no entry fee. The deadline for entries is October 21, 2026.
