About this residency

AVISTAVULCÃO is a funded one-month artist residency on the Azorean island of Faial, near the Capelinhos Volcano, supported through the EU’s Culture Moves Europe initiative and hosted by Barca. Focused on research and creation, it offers an artist or artistic duo an immersion in a landscape shaped by geology and the constant interplay between nature and human presence, taking place in March 2027. Eligibility: open to artists legally residing in a country participating in the Creative Europe programme. Location: Faial, Azores, Portugal. Deadline: 31 August 2026. Fee: free to apply (the residency is funded via a Culture Moves Europe mobility grant).
