“I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.” — Henry David Thoreau
It is in the forest that what I create is born. There I gather countless fruits, leaves, seeds, small twigs from trees, tendrils from climbing plants… all with designs that often go unnoticed, yet possess a beauty I strive to rescue and bring into my work.
All of this happens only when I adjust my lens and focus; that is when a world once invisible opens before me. The beauty there is overwhelming and reaches me through the senses like nowhere else. The colours, the scents, the textures. I try to translate all of that into my work.
Each piece I create is conceived as something unique, recalling the most ancient ways of working, when time mattered little and excellence was the true aim.
Every artwork is the result of a careful and demanding process in which I give everything a second life. I also use elements from nature that are no longer needed; that is why autumn is especially important for me, when I collect fruits, seed pods, seeds, branches, leaves (with their wonderful scent that lingers in my pieces), tendrils, and many other forms you might not even imagine.
I recycle fabrics from very diverse sources: manufacturing surplus, garments that were never sold and never will be at their original price, yet are of exceptional quality, and more. Sustainability is always present in my practice, particularly through recycling and upcycling — elevating reuse to another level.
