Annabelle Pelaez is a mixed-media artist based in Edinburgh, Scotland, whose practice examines the intersection between nature, perception, and the human imprint on the environment. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, her work reflects a deep curiosity about the overlooked and transient aspects of the natural world. Through a process grounded in material experimentation, she explores how scientific ways of seeing, including the microscopic and aerial gaze, can alter our understanding of landscape. Selected for the RSA New Contemporaries 2026 and recipient of the SSA New Graduate Award 2025, Pelaez’s practice situates itself within contemporary discussions of environmental awareness, using subtle visual language to evoke the fragility and endurance of natural forms. She continues to develop a body of work that engages with the emotional and philosophical dimensions of ecological change.
