Title of Artwork: “Still Life with Prism”

Artwork by Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin
Year Created 1920
Summary of Still Life with Prism
Following seeing much of Europe, Petrov-Vodkin went back to Russia after the Russian Revolution and began to paint still lifes, perfecting his approach to depicting inanimate items.
His still life with prism serves as a perfect example of his artistic goals.
His favourite still life objects—a prism, a matchbox, and an apple—are depicted in this slanted composition. He also used the classic three-color palette of Russian icon painting.
