In 1524, the Elector was depicted by the German artist in a burin etching.

A dark green background and three-quarter views of Frederick’s face are depicted in Dürer’s depiction of his bust. The parapet on which his arms rest, or the hands holding a roll, were typical of Flemish art at the time.

The large beret and Frederick’s determined gaze accentuate Frederick’s impervious personality and status.
